Situation
This Canadian company is a subsidiary
of the world’s oldest car manufacturer.
The subsidiary distributes vehicles to
a network of corporate stores and dealerships
across Canada. For the 2004 model year,
they imported and distributed 53 vehicle
models, encompassing coupes, convertibles,
and all-activity vehicles.
Solution – Productivity
and Cost Efficiency
The company installed a LibertyNET system
in 1997 to manage all warranty documents.
With one scanner and three workstations,
the warranty department scanned all documents
related to ownership and warranty of purchased
vehicles.
With the introduction of the LibertyNET
system, the warranty department greatly
improved its ability to respond to any
query related to ownership and/or warranty
of Canadian vehicles.
In 1999, LibertyNET was extended to the
accounts payable department at the company’s
head office and to the corporate stores.
Utilizing a centralized database, the
remote offices scanned invoices, that
were automatically indexed using a database
lookup, then stored in the LibertyNET
system.
Using image enabling technology, LibertyNET
was also integrated with the ROSS Accounting
System to provide easy and seamless retrieval
of invoices. Now, without having to launch
a separate application or enter any search
criteria, an invoice image can be retrieved
and viewed instantly with a simple click
of a “Show” button built into
the Ross A/P system.
A recent software upgrade enables authorized
users to access documents over the company’s
Intranet from anywhere across Canada.
It also provides secure access to authorized
users at its international world headquarters.
Client Benefit
The accounting department has seen huge
benefits by reducing the cost of processing
and searching for invoices.
The company plans to take full advantage
of additional LibertyNET features, including
Liberty’s COLD module to capture
copies of computer-produced checks. Large
computer-generated reports can also be
imported directly into LibertyNET, thereby
avoiding the need for cumbersome computer
printouts.
